    LESSON: SALES AGENT TRAINING COURSE

Steinway Hall sales room, c. 1885.

A math-based lesson in which students play the role of Steinway dealers. They learn to identify the three types of pianos built in the 19th century. (Square pianos were the piano of choice for home use until the introduction of improved upright pianos in the 1870’s.) Using an actual 1869 price list, they use addition and subtraction to compute their profits.
